The philosophical and economic ideas of Karl Marx (1818-1883) and Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) played a huge role in the life of the whole world and our country in particular, laying the foundations of the revolutionary doctrine of society. "Capital", a huge three-volume work by Karl Marx, was revised by the German historian and economist J. Borchardt, who created a more compact version of it. The idea of the compiler is to "let Marx himself speak" and to enable any reader to understand the essence of the dialectical-materialist approach. The work "The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State" by Friedrich Engels (1884) is devoted to the evolution of the family and marriage, the origin and essence of statehood. The book also includes the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" (1848), written by scientists on behalf of the "Union of the Just" society. This document marked the beginning of the formation of the international communist movement. All these works were compulsory for study in the USSR universities and influenced the worldview of Soviet citizens for many years. But were the works of Marx and Engels correctly understood and interpreted?
