Irving Chernev and Fred Reinfeld are classics of American chess literature. Fred was even inducted into the Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis in 1996 under number 26. More than one generation of English-speaking chess players studied on their books, but they were not translated or published in the USSR. In our time, the situation has changed, and these authors are now known to many Russian readers.

Both Chernev and Reinfeld are distinguished by simplicity and transparency of presentation, accessible language. Everything they write is understandable to literally every chess player, although these books are full of subtleties.

This book is a textbook on tactics, containing a huge number of specially selected positions. Studying these examples and methods of analyzing combinations allows you to better understand the interaction of pieces. Repeating on the board, winning patterns bring order to chaotic chess thoughts. When you master all types of chess "weapons", combinations will become your second nature. And combination play is the key to winning in chess.
