Nodar Dumbadze (1928–1984) is the most famous Georgian writer, his works have been translated into ninety-six languages. Nodar Dumbadze’s prose is filled with love for simple human values, his characters, selflessly in love with life, seem to have been born only in warm Georgia, where even a blind person, if you believe the author, can see the sun. Despite the fact that Nodar Dumbadze was widely known throughout the Soviet Union, most of his works have not been published in Russian for a long time. This edition seeks to correct this unfortunate omission — it includes famous novels, stories and short stories by the classic of Georgian literature, including the most famous story “Me, Grandma, Iliko and Illarion”. It tells the story of a boy growing up in a Georgian village during the Great Patriotic War. It seems that all the most characteristic features of Nodar Dumbadze's prose are reflected here: subtle humor, grotesque, colorful everyday life, pain and horror of war... But perhaps the most unforgettable character of this story is the stern grandmother Olga, who knows how to swear like no other woman in Georgia. However, the main character is not afraid of her curses, because one day the grandmother revealed her secret: "my lips curse, but my heart blesses you...".
