12-year-old Emma decided to run away from home - from boredom and injustice (you bet, she was the eldest child in the family, and the only girl!), to escape to a place where it is safe, beautiful and interesting: the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Together with her went for adventure and younger brother Jimmy.
It turns out that the night life of the museum is no less exciting than the day life - when the Met is open to the public. Emma and Jimmy sleep on a real royal bed, swim in the pool, hide behind sculptures from guards, and during the day mingle with groups of schoolchildren who came on a tour. And also our heroes will have to conduct a real investigation and find out who is the author of the Angel sculpture, which the museum bought at auction for a ridiculous 225 dollars? Maybe it is Michelangelo himself? In an effort to solve the mystery, which did not cope with the famous art historians, Emma and Jimmy find the former owner of the statue - Mrs. Frankweiler. And then the most fascinating thing begins: the archives of this modest old lady contain such a thing!
