The book includes selected works of the commander and statesman Napoleon Bonaparte, dedicated to the military campaign on the Apennine Peninsula and the campaign in Egypt. Napoleon, appointed commander of the Italian Army, gives a detailed and thorough account of the advance of his troops, the major battles of the campaign, including the battles of Arcola, where he displayed personal heroism, and the Battle of Rivoli, as well as the diplomatic negotiations and peace with Austria. This edition also includes a description of the expedition to Egypt and Syria in 1798-1799, which began with the triumphant capture of Malta and Alexandria, the Battle of the Pyramids and the defeat of the Mameluke forces, and ended with the destruction of the fleet of the French Republic at the Battle of Aboukir. In addition, the book includes sketches of military events for 1798 and 1799, in which the author writes not without admiration about the success of the Russian army under the command of commander A.V. Suvorov, as well as extracts from other works of Napoleon.
