The first volume of the work by the famous Polish historian, as well as the governor of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria in Austria-Hungary, is devoted to the presentation of events from the birth of the Polish state to the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the end of the 18th century. Analyzing archival documents, critically comprehending numerous works of other scientists, the author impartially presents historical facts, making it possible to understand the deep processes that took place at that time not only in Poland, but also throughout Europe, as well as to understand the causes of many events of today. The second volume of the work is devoted to the presentation of events after the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth until the restoration of the Polish state in 1918 and the establishment of borders in 1923. By analyzing archival documents, critically examining numerous works by other scholars, and, in addition, drawing on his own experience of political activity, the author impartially presents historical facts, making it possible to understand the deep processes that took place at that time not only in Poland, but throughout Europe, and to understand the reasons for many of the events of today.
