Maria Józefowna Konopnicka (1842–1910) was a Polish writer, translator, and literary critic. Her most famous children's work is "The Story of the Dwarves and the Orphan Marysia." In it, little underground wizards help a girl find her lost geese. The text of the tale is translated by Vukol Mikhailovich Lavrov. The publication is decorated with color and black-and-white illustrations by Polish artists.
