For several years, writer Dmitry Oparin and photographer Anton Akimov ran a column about historic buildings in the magazine "Bolshoi Gorod." After the column ended, they continued collecting residents' memories, searching for old photographs and archival documents, exploring attics and back stairs, photographing preserved parquet floors and multi-layered stucco. That's how this book came to be.

It's a story about twenty-five Moscow residential buildings built from the 17th century to the 1920s. Each chapter is dedicated to a single building and consists of a historical overview and residents' memories, accompanied by archival documents and old and new photographs of the building.
