For the first time the reader is offered a reprint of a unique edition of 1901, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the service of the imperial yacht "Alexandria". She was already a unique ship, the memory of which had to be preserved. Launched in 1851, the yacht served four monarchs faithfully.

The description of the service of the yacht "Alexandria" is compiled by the senior ship's mechanic V.V. Sagovsky and supplemented with documents. It is supplemented with documents on construction, extracts from the yacht's logbooks and a list of officers who served on the yacht.

"Alexandria" witnessed all the most important events of the 2nd half of the XIX and early XX centuries: the Crimean War and numerous visits of the first persons of the states, including the King of Denmark (1868) and the King of Greece (1871), Kaiser Wilhelm II (1888) and French President Felix Faure (1897); opening of the river channels and consecration of St. Isaac's Cathedral. In 1856 the ship survived a collision with the clipper "Dzhigit", and in 1873 it was nearly destroyed by ramming of a Norwegian steamer.

The yacht changed boilers three times - in the winter of 1866 - 1867, in 1879 and 1890, and continued to fulfill its representative mission.

And of course without "Alexandria" there was not a single review of the ships of the Russian fleet leaving for a foreign voyage or returning. Thus, on May 29, 1895, Emperor Nicholas II inspected the newest cruiser "Rurik" and battleship "Emperor Alexander II" leaving for Kiel, and on October 10 he inspected the battleship "Navarin", gunboat "Menacing" and cruisers "Rurik" and "Dmitry Donskoy" leaving for the East.

Only the last five years of the yacht before her decommissioning and transfer of her glorious name to the new "Alexandria" are left uncovered in the book.

The book is illustrated with reproductions of paintings, engravings and photographs of the yacht and her passengers.
