The reader is offered a short but vivid work by Saint Righteous John of Kronstadt (Archpriest John Sergiev; 1829-1908) "Christian Philosophy", which was first published in 1902. It contains excerpts from his diaries for 1897-1899, arranged according to a plan developed under the direct supervision of the author himself. This is a kind of excursion into the main dogmas and themes of Christian teaching, passed through the prayerful and liturgical theological contemplation of the great ascetic, miracle worker and intercessor for Russia: at the center of his attention are God, the world, man, the original and fallen, the restoration of the latter by Christ in the Incarnation and Redemption, the establishment of the Holy Church with its gracious fullness for the perception of salvation by the human race, as well as the significance of man's personal participation in his salvation. The depth of thought and at the same time simple and aphoristic language make this work interesting for the widest range of readers.
