Writer Yan Leopoldovich Larry (1900–1977) is known for his celebrated novella, "The Extraordinary Adventures of Karik and Valya." He also wrote many other works, including the fairy tale "Brave Tilly. A Puppy's Notes Written with His Tail." It first appeared in the pages of Murzilka magazine in 1970.

This is a kind story about a puppy named Tilly who had a fight with his owner and ran off into the forest. The city puppy was completely unprepared for life in the forest, so he wanted to make friends with the locals, but not everyone was as friendly as Tilly...

Illustrations for the story were drawn by Viktor Chizhikov.
Intended for primary school age.
