The future brought no joy to people; the two superpowers nevertheless clashed in a devastating nuclear war. But civilization did not perish; some time passed after this terrible war, and the world was once again divided into two hostile blocs. One of them—the "free trade zone"—lives as before: in the Federation, the elite wallows in luxury, while the rest of the citizens eke out a miserable existence, receiving a meager "basic income." But even this is a blessing compared to the hunger and mass poverty in poor countries. However, there is another, larger part of the world, where people are building a new society, without exploitation and elites, without moneyed elites and the free market. Earth still faces many problems—from the military confrontation between the two blocs to the environmental consequences of nuclear war. What optimistic science fiction writers promise us—immortality, superhumans, photonic starships, and abundance—does not exist there. But there is hope...
