The collection of short stories "Frowning People" was published in 1890. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov expresses Russian reality in the genre of "psychopathological sketches", probably not quite expected by the reader from the usual Chekhov: each hero seems to be abandoned and the author, and God, and his country. Frowning people experience fatigue in the darkness of everyday life, physical or mental labor. Here murders take place, people laugh and are bored. The author dedicated this collection to the composer P. Tchaikovsky, which was the beginning of their friendship. Here you can find such stories as "I want to sleep", "Champagne", "Boring story" and others.
