The Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939 was the first ever clash between the forces of democracy and fascism that caught the world’s attention. Together with the Spanish Republicans, internationalists from many countries in Europe and the United States fought. The Soviet Union, which helped the republicans with supplies of military equipment and weapons, military specialists and volunteers, hosted Spanish children. The rebels, in turn, were actively assisted by fascist Germany and Italy, who sent regular military units to Spain under the guise of volunteers, which largely predetermined the defeat of the Spanish Republic.
All this with the involvement of a huge factual material is described in the book of the famous diplomat, historian and political scientist, public and political figure N.N. Platoshkin.
