Clouds gather over the swiftly running Volga. Fierce gusts of wind blow away little birds on their way to their shelter. And so Katerina - a young, kind, caring girl - having married a man who is pressured by his own mother, is forced to put up with the cruel nature of this woman. With each passing day, the atmosphere in their home becomes more and more oppressive. In despair, Katerina tries to find for herself a single ray of happiness, but where will this lead her?

Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky wrote "The Storm" after his journey along the Volga. He was inspired by people and their stories and put it all into literary form. And now we can dive through time into the depths of the pool to which Katerina gave herself up.
