"The Prince" is the most significant and controversial work of the Florentine statesman of the Renaissance, Niccolo Machiavelli. For many years, this book was associated with the policy of poison and dagger. After the publication of "The Prince", the term "Machiavellianism" appeared, denoting cynicism, permissiveness, and duplicity in politics. However, today many of the author's provisions are perceived less clearly, having found their embodiment in the history of the twentieth century. In addition to "The Prince", this edition publishes another famous work by Machiavelli, "Discourses on the First Decade of Titus Livius", which supplements and clarifies many aspects of the author's main work. Both texts are presented in the most modern translation to date and are provided with notes.
