Vladimir Mikhanovsky (1931–2019) was a science fiction writer and poet, one of the classics of Soviet science fiction prose of the sixties. Having begun his creative life with the publication of poetry collections, Mikhanovsky became famous after one of the central newspapers published his story “Khobo”, which was later included in the completely mature collection “The Secret of One Laboratory” (Kharkov, 1964). In total, the author created over a hundred science fiction works; in the 90s of the 20th century, he also turned to the detective genre. The writer worked alternately in Russian and Ukrainian, so for this edition, some of the stories were specially translated. The volume of Vladimir Mikhanovsky’s collected works offered to readers includes stories and novellas from the second half of the 20th century.
