Ekaterina Kubryakova is a blogger, author of the literary and historical project "Voices from Windows" dedicated to preserving the history of St. Petersburg, writer, playwright. In 2019, she was awarded a diploma of the Antsifer Prize. Her new, already third book is not an encyclopedia and not a local history study. Rather, it is a kaleidoscope of stories, a kind of interpretation of genius loci, the spirit of place that dwells in the old houses of the great city. An attempt to revitalize the buildings, silent witnesses of the past, with the voices of their famous inhabitants: from Merezhskovsky to Shostakovich. The book is accompanied by color photographs and archival illustrations.
