Michael Hartung, owner of one of the last video rental shops in Berlin, is visited by a journalist and tells of an amazing case. In the materials of the Stasi he found information about the escape of a hundred and twenty-seven people in the FRG on a commuter train in July 1983. And helped them in this allegedly none other than Hartung, who served in those years as a switchman at the station Friedrichstrasse. At first Michael refuses and denies everything, but the temptation to become a hero is too great - and here he is ready to publicly confirm the truth of this story.
But then he meets Paula, who was on that very train, falls in love with her and realizes that he has fallen into his own trap. He needs to unravel this tangle of lies before it's too late. A dynamic, touching and funny story about a con man on a willy-nilly basis.
