The most difficult time for the Russian army during World War I (1914-1918) was the campaign of 1915. Taking advantage of the inaction of the Allies and seeking to withdraw Russia from the war at any cost, the German High Command concentrated its main forces on the Eastern Front. However, the attempt to organize the Russian army "strategic Cannes" was thwarted by the actions of the Russian command.
On the bloody defensive battles, which had to conduct the Russian army in the winter - spring of 1915, and the courage and heroism displayed in them is described in a new book by military historian AV Oleynikov.
