This manual, "Geometry. Basic Course with Solutions and Instructions," edited by M. V. Fedotov, was compiled by faculty members of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics at Lomonosov Moscow State University. It is based on problems from the MSU entrance exams in mathematics and the Unified State Exam.
The "Basic Course" is designed to reinforce the school-level geometry material and acquire the skills necessary to solve problems from the Unified State Exam and standard problems from university entrance exams.
This course does not assume knowledge beyond the basic school curriculum. All techniques necessary for solving the problems are demonstrated throughout the course of study.
The manual contains:
- theoretical material;
- problem solution examples;
- problems for independent solution;
- ideas and instructions (hints) for the problems.
The problems in the sections are arranged from simple to complex. A similar situation applies to the sequence of sections, so it is recommended to study the sections and tasks within them in the suggested order.
Recommended for schoolchildren preparing for the Unified State Exam, applicants preparing for admission to Moscow State University and other universities, mathematics teachers, tutors, club and elective course leaders, and preparatory course instructors.
