The name of Andrey Petrovich Kiselev, a mathematician and teacher, is well known to many generations of school teachers and their students. His textbooks have been used in schools since the end of the 19th century. Some of them have been reprinted more than 30 times, as they have a number of important features: the relevance of the material presented, the brevity and precision of the wording, the use of pictures that provide clarity. And one of the main advantages of the scientist's style is the simplicity of the presentation of the material, which makes complex theoretical issues understandable for many students.

This publication is the 1st part of a geometry textbook for students in grades 6-9 of secondary school and contains information on plane geometry - a section of elementary geometry that studies figures on a plane. Readers will become familiar with the basic concepts of plane geometry (point, line, plane), study the signs of similarity of figures, learn to calculate the length of a circle and the area of figures. To consolidate the theoretical material, the textbook offers problems and exercises. This book is intended primarily for students and teachers of secondary school. It can be used in lessons and as additional material to consolidate the acquired knowledge. A. P. Kiselev's textbook will become a reliable assistant for a schoolchild in achieving high academic results.
