Having met the young Impressionist follower Francis Picabia, Gaby helped him formulate the idea of abstraction and decide to change his artistic path. Their family and intellectual union became one of the centers of Dadaism. For artist Marcel Duchamp, she was a source of inspiration, and poet Guillaume Apollinaire found in her a friend and kindred spirit.
