At one point, faculty at the California Institute of Technology began thinking about how to restructure their physics course to make it more engaging and contemporary. Richard Feynman enthusiastically embraced the idea and agreed to teach his two-year lecture course on general physics, but only once. The university, for whom this was a historic event, arranged for the lectures to be recorded, and a team of physicists subsequently prepared a multi-volume edition, which is still considered one of the best introductory physics courses.

The current volume includes lectures on electrodynamics.
