The novel in verse “Eugene Onegin” is the most famous and most significant work of A. S. Pushkin, the pinnacle of Russian poetry and the subject of numerous studies. Pushkin began writing the novel in May 1823, and finished only in the autumn of 1831, when Onegin’s Letter to Tatiana was created. In the autumn of 1823, he told his friends: I am no longer writing a novel, but a novel in verse—a diabolical difference. . . ?
Interesting, easy, based on a love story, conveyed in the manner of a confidential conversation between the author and the reader, and at the same time full of insoluble paradoxes and riddles. Contradiction, multidimensionality, which constitute the very essence of Pushkin’s novel, attract new generations of readers, allow them to discover new meanings in it.
The publication includes comments by the famous Pushkinist E. O. Larionova.
