This book is dedicated to the Fubuki destroyers that joined the Imperial Japanese Navy in the early thirties of the last century. Their appearance, indicating the rapid growth of the potential of Japanese warshipbuilding, not only made a strong impression in the naval circles of most maritime powers, along with giving an undoubted impetus to the development of ships of the class "destroyer", but also determined the main trends in the development of ships of this class in the Japanese Navy for the next decade.
The book contains information on the design history, modernizations, tactical and technical elements, composition of armament and technical means of these ships. Modern foreign, including Japanese publications and sources were used in the preparation of the manuscript. It is hoped that reference to them allowed to give a more complete and reliable historical description of ships of this type, avoiding the retelling of common misconceptions.
Special attention is paid to their participation in naval operations of the Second World War. Chapters 6-11 consider the actions of tactical formations (division, flotilla), which included ships of this type. The section is supplemented by a brief analysis of the operational situation in the area under consideration during the period in question.
In Chapter 12 the description is given for each of the destroyers of this type separately, with mention of the ships and tactical formations that participated in each operation together. It is known that combat reports often contain contradictory data and assessments. For completeness and objectivity in the description of naval battles, where possible, excerpts from enemy reports are given. A separate chapter is devoted to the officers who commanded destroyers of this type.
In the preparation of graphic material and reconstruction of the appearance of the ships used data from Japanese sources.
At the end of the book in Appendix 1 lists of commanders of the ships. In Appendix 2 - the composition of torpedo flotillas of the Imperial Navy in the period from 1927 to 1945, indicating the commanders of the flotillas, their flagships, the composition of the divisions, the dates of repairs, withdrawal from the combat force, the transfer of ships to other formations.
The book has 7 tabs of 34x15 cm with general views of the ships.
