Episodes of Soviet cinema
19.99 €
Against the background of works devoted to the comprehension of Soviet cinema, the new book by Victor Mazin and Alexander Pogrebnyak stands out because the authors' attention is focused on the role of specific episodes, which in the viewer's perception are often separated from their connection with the film as a whole and turned into "partial objects" that lead an independent life and serve as a reason for the desire to rethink both the film itself and the experience of Soviet reality - to take them out of their usual historical and cultural context and discover in them strange, "para-Soviet" features. Among the films from which the episodes are taken are both classic, well-known films and undeservedly neglected gems. To interpret the meaning of these episodes, the authors use approaches related to psychoanalysis, philosophy, political economy and a number of other disciplines.

A book-turned-book.
