Eduard Limonov is one of the most controversial figures in contemporary Russian literature and politics. In his life, he has been a Moscow bohemian poet, a homeless emigrant in New York, a fashionable writer in Paris, and then a radical politician whose books and speeches have always caused scandal. Opposed to the authorities not only in Russia but also in other countries of the former Soviet Union, Limonov and the National Bolshevik Party he founded became famous for high-profile public actions that eventually led to the party's ban and its leader's imprisonment. Today, despite his venerable age, Limonov remains active and youthful in all areas - creativity, politics, and personal life. His first Russian-language biography was written by his longtime associate, St. Petersburg politician and journalist Andrei Dmitriev (literary pseudonym - Balkansky) based on his personal recollections and conversations with the hero of the book.
