Emma spends most of her free time at the cemetery, so many people at school think she's strange. But that's not unusual, because her father is a gravedigger and they live in a cemetery house.

Peter's twin brother Martin died because of a stupid accident - fell from the roof of the garage. Since then, Peter comes to the cemetery every day and sits for hours at Martin's grave, not noticing anything around him. Emma thinks that this can not continue, and decides to befriend him. Together they find a way out of the cemetery and into life.
