The protagonist of the new novel-anti-utopia Olga Ptitseva lives in a country where the eternal winter has been declared. Two hundred days it snows, food is given on cards, and those who disagree are sent to the freezer. Nyuta cannot leave, because with her biological education she is now needed by the Cold Party: it is urgent to develop selective species of frost-resistant plants.
Meanwhile, strange events are happening in the city. In the middle of snowdrifts bloom yellow daffodils. The local authorities are sure: the opposition is to blame for everything, it is they who want to destabilize the situation.
