First published in 1818, The Reasoning of Reason was Jane Austen's last work. The action takes place in the county of Somerset and Bath. The plot centers on Anne's failed engagement to Captain Frederick Wentworth, a sailor whom Anne met and fell in love with when she was 19 years old. At the time, Wentworth was considered an unsuitable match because of his poverty, and Anne was forced to break off the relationship. Now, eight years later, they meet again. By this time Captain Wentworth has become rich in the navy, and he is now an attractive "prey" to many. How will their relationship play out now? "Reasoning" will delight any reader with finely drawn characters, light satire and charming recreation of the world of the English countryside of the XIX century.
