"Dob-sky" is a scholarly supplement to the journal "Seance," dedicated to the theory and history of film. It publishes serious research by both classical scholars and emerging film scholars. The authors are primarily faculty and students of the Seance School.

In the first issue, read: an excerpt from Yevgeny Margolit's forthcoming monograph on Grigory Kozintsev, a chapter from Lyubov Arkus's upcoming book on Ivan Pyryev, and Mikhail Trofimenkov's long-awaited new investigation into cinema during the McCarthy era. Vasily Stepanov tells the story of Soviet detective director Herbert Rappaport, whose life story itself resembles an adventure thriller. Marianna Kireeva analyzes Sergei Eisenstein's cinematic dreams. Vyacheslav Karnaev finds parallels in the manifestos of Dziga Vertov and documentary filmmaker Alexander Rastorguev. Alexandra Kuznetsova and Yulia Rogacheva examine the murky life of cinematographer Yevgeny Mikhailov. And thanks to Dmitry Fedorov, early drafts of Gennady Shpalikov's screenplay for the film "You and Me" are published for the first time.
