“For this reason, God will bring us to heaven,” the Church sings in one of her chants. And the church liturgical year, filled with memories of events sacred to the Christian and of the many saints who pleased God with their lives, is the path to heaven offered to us by the Church.

The fundamental work of Archpriest G. S. Debolsky (1808-1872) “Days of Divine Service of the Orthodox Catholic Eastern Church” is currently the most complete description of the liturgical year. In it, the author gives information about the most important church holidays, their dogmatic and symbolic significance and the history of their appearance in the Church.

The Days of Worship are published in three books for the convenience of perceiving the very extensive material contained in it. The third book includes the days of worship and holidays of the so-called mobile circle: preparation weeks for Lent, fasting, Easter and Pentecost. It also tells about other fasts and fasting days, days of the week and days of remembrance of the dead.
