In 1900, the renowned polar explorer E. V. Toll set out on his final expedition—in search of the legendary Sannikov Land. The Russian polar expedition on the yacht Zarya lasted two years, and throughout this time, Toll kept a diary in his native German. The entry ends on June 3, 1902, when Toll and three companions abandoned the vessel and headed for Bennett Island, hoping to get closer to the coveted Sannikov Land. They reached the island, but their trail was lost. A rescue expedition led by A. V. Kolchak yielded no results. The mystery of Toll and his companions' death remains unsolved.

This is the most complete translation of E. V. Toll's diaries into Russian.
