The book includes two parts of Sergei Mikhalkov's poem about the main giant Stepan Stepanov: "Uncle Styopa" and "Uncle Styopa the Policeman". The book features illustrations by Konstantin Rotov, a graphic artist, caricaturist, and book illustrator.

Konstantin Rotov "copied" the image of Uncle Styopa from the famous actor Alexei Batalov, his son-in-law. From the memoirs of Alexei Batalov: "After all, Lyosha, your shoe size is forty-five. And Uncle Styopa's too!" And the granddaughter of the famous artist and daughter of the great actor Nadezhda Batalova says the following about these illustrations: "...And I look at Mikhalkov's drawings for the poem with pleasure. How charming, sweet, dexterous, smiling, and kind Uncle Styopa-Batalov is! How good are these cheerful drawings by Rotov, which have remained for all time...".
