Kurban Said's personality is as mysterious as his books. The real name of the author hiding behind this pseudonym is still controversial. No less dark is the history of his most famous novel "Ali and Nino": published in 1937, the book was firmly forgotten until 1970, when, after simultaneous publication in America and England, its characters triumphantly returned to the shelves of bookstores. "The Girl from the Golden Horn" is the author's second novel, a dramatic story of a young Turkish woman who was supposed to become one of the wives of the Ottoman pasha, but is forced to leave Turkey and live in Berlin, adapting to the customs and habits of European life.
