Viktor Dragunsky wrote Deniskin's Stories in the late 1950s.
Back then, there were inkwells in schools, very few cars on the streets, and one telephone for every few families. A lot has changed since then, but we still laugh when we hear "Vasya's dad is good at math," "syski, khyhki and fyfki," or "Chiki-Bryk! Do the trick again." "Third place in butterfly style", "The Girl on the Balloon", "The Glory of Ivan Kozlovsky", "The Secret Becomes Apparent", "He is alive and glowing", "From top to bottom askew"... This edition is unusual. It includes not only all the stories about Deniska and his friends, but also stories about life sixty years ago. Written by Denis Dragunsky, a novelist and the son of the writer. He told how they played hide-and-seek in communal apartments and raced on bicycles in the yard, about soda with syrup and general's buttons, about what in "Denisky stories" fiction, and what really happened.
