The book by the founder of the first Pirate Party, Rick Falkvinge, and the member of the European Parliament, Christian Engström, is devoted to the problem of copyright, that is, copyright itself as a problem for the further development of culture.

Having emerged in the 17th-18th centuries, the institution of copyright as a limited monopoly of the content industry, partially ensuring its production, evolved in only one direction - strengthening and expanding this monopoly. In its current form, copyright has lost its social effectiveness and has turned from a relatively useful condition for the creator into an obstacle to the development of culture as a whole.
