Nikolay Pavlovich Zadornov (1909-1992) was a famous writer and author of novels about the exploration of Siberia and the Far East by Russian explorers. A special place in the work of N. P. Zadornov is occupied by a series of works about the outstanding navigator Captain G. I. Nevelskoy (1813-1876), the leader of the Amur expedition, which contributed to the strengthening of Russia in the Pacific Ocean.
This edition includes the first two novels of this series.
The novel "Far Land" is a kind of prehistory of the exploration of the Far East by Russian explorers. This is a fascinating story about the harsh life of the peoples of the Amur region before the arrival of Russian settlers.
The novel "The First Discovery" tells about the first expedition of Captain Nevelskoy to the mouth of the Amur. The story of the adventures of brave travelers is combined with reliable pictures of life in the harsh territories of the lower reaches of the Amur and the adjacent sea coasts. Both novels were translated into many languages and awarded the USSR State Prize.
