"Citadel" is the final, unfinished work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is the book the author of "The Little Prince" considered his favorite, and into which he poured his deepest thoughts.

"Citadel" is a labyrinthine book: wandering through it, you discover new spaces of thought and feeling. "Citadel" is a meditation: after finishing it, you become a little different. This powerful, impregnable literary fortress was built by the writer over many years with utmost dedication and endless love.

Since "Citadel" was unfinished (Saint-Exupéry always repeated that he would never finish it), and the book itself proved too voluminous and difficult to read, the French writer Michel Quesnel, at the request of the family, attempted to edit it, making some cuts and eliminating repetitions, thereby more clearly highlighting all the artistic merits. The new version proved more accessible and popular, bringing readers closer to this inimitable masterpiece by the great writer-architect, who builds his own citadel in each person's heart.

Published in Russian in a brilliant translation by Marianna Kozhevnikova.
