Anatoly Borisovich Mariengof (1897-1962) is better known to modern readers as an author of novels and memoir prose, but he began as an Imagist poet who expressed his attitude to the changes taking place in the country in egregious, often scandalous images. Theory and poetry were reinforced by practice - the antics of Imaginists rattled all over Moscow. This period is also marked by the friendship of Mariengof with another poet and "hooligan" - Sergei Esenin. It was Esenin became the main character of his "Romance without Lies" (1926) and the addressee of many poems. This edition includes all the "big" prose Anatoly Mariengofa: memoir "A Novel without Lies", "Cynics" (1928) - a novel, which was according to Joseph Brodsky, "one of the most innovative works in Russian fiction of this century", no less "cynical" "Shaved Man" (1929), as well as an example of late work - a historical novel "Catherine" (1936). In addition, the book includes poems from different years, together with a program article on Imagism "Buyan-island", the tragedy "Conspiracy of Fools" and memoirs, including a large-scale narrative "My Age, My Youth, My Friends and Girlfriends" in the last author's edition of 1960.
