This book includes nine poems by the remarkable Russian innovative poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. For the first time in children's literature, these poems address important topics so simply, clearly, and rhythmically: for example, the need to learn ("The Story of Vlas the Lazy and Loafer") or the ability to distinguish between good and evil and do the right thing ("What is Good and What is Bad?"). The poet's creation of a wooden horse ("Fire Horse") becomes a fascinating process, instilling in young readers a respect for work, and the poem "Every Page—Elephant, Lioness" evokes the feeling of a fun and exciting walk through a zoo. And, of course, after reading "Cloudy Things," the whole family will delight in watching the unusual transformations of the clouds.

The colorful, cheerful illustrations for the poems were created by contemporary Moscow artist Elena Kuznetsova.
