This collection includes two significant works by Camus. "The Rebellious Man" is an essay written at the intersection of literary criticism and philosophy. One of Camus's main ideas, which formed the basis of his writerly and philosophical existentialist conception, is the idea of rebellion. Rebellion, even if doomed to failure three times, but prompting a man who wants to control his own destiny to fight against the laws of society. A meaningful life, according to Camus, is impossible without struggle, just as struggle is impossible without the will to freedom, again and again putting before us the "accursed" questions of existence. "The Myth of Sisyphus" is a philosophical essay in which the author presents the meaningless and endless labor of Sisyphus as a metaphor for modern society. Why do we work every day? Who needs it? Going to work every day is as inherently absurd as constantly trying to lift a stone up a mountain from which it will roll down anyway.
