The author of the book, International Master Maxim Chetverik, touches upon an important aspect of chess theory concerning positional play. In most works devoted to positional play, strategic elements are considered separately, while strategic plans (and, especially, the confrontation of plans) are analyzed much less frequently. The works of the classics in this area are not outdated, but a modern view of the problem is useful, taking into account the connection of the middlegame with the current theory of openings.
The book contains 75 examples, in each of which at least one partner holds the title of grandmaster. All games were played in the 21st century. At first, strategic plans are considered against the background of the defensive actions of the opponent, then the active confrontation of the parties within the framework of positional play is studied.
For a wide range of chess fans.
