The most difficult period of Ukraine's history - a time of constant wars, turmoil and powerlessness - lasted from 1917 to 1922. The author examines in detail the socio-political situation in Ukraine during these years, focusing not only on the actions of pro-Bolshevik forces, but also carefully analyzing the actions of German occupation troops, Entente interventionists and Petliur units. Despite the use of a large number of propaganda stamps and coverage of the situation in a light favorable to the Bolsheviks, he does not try to hide the facts or bypass controversial aspects of the historical process, seeking to describe in as much detail as possible the events taking place in Ukraine at that time. The easy style of presentation of serious material allows readers not to get confused by complex academic formulations, and one is also struck by the amazing, sometimes seemingly unbelievable coincidence of some slogans, motives and events of the early 20th century with those of which we are contemporaries.
