One winter day in 2008, the author of this book carefully drew the constellation of the Big Dipper on a tracing paper, randomly overlaid the drawing on a map of Europe and marked on the map the European cities with which the stars coincided. Among the marked cities were both large and well-known - Zurich, Warsaw, Nancy, Zaragoza, Brindisi - and small, no one but the surrounding inhabitants unknown settlements: Elche de la Sierra, Marvejol, Oteriv, Engelholm, Otranto, Ponte Leccia and many others.
And then the author traveled to all the towns mentioned and wrote down the stories he heard on their streets, never tiring of marveling at how talkative the towns become when they welcome a traveler who has come specifically to listen to them. It seems to be very important for any city to be able to talk to people in a language they understand. This is how The Big Wagon came into being - the perfect vehicle for traveling around Europe, a travel book, a guide to the secret corners of European cities and our hearts.
