The monograph by Larisa Kirillina, professor at the Moscow Conservatory and leading researcher at the State Institute of Art History, examines the relationship between Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and his admirers and patrons from Russia. Among them are foreigners in the Russian service ("Russian agents" - the outstanding diplomat Count A. K. Razumovsky, the cellist Prince N. B. Golitsyn and the august couple - Emperor Alexander I and Empress Elizabeth Alexeevna. The book is based on historical sources and archival documents, many of which are published for the first time.
