What kid doesn't dream of having a dog or at least a cat? And the hero of this book, schoolboy Clint Barlow, is a lucky boy: he has a seal. He found it very small, only a few days old, fed, raised and did not part with it, despite all the desperate mischief that made Buster - so Clint named his seal. Clint lives with his mom and dad in a village on the shore of the Atlantic, on the border of the United States and Canada. He is good at managing a complicated household, can milk a cow, catch fish and goes out to sea on a small skiff by himself. And Clint is also a born zoologist and oceanologist. .It would seem that everything in this story is good: understanding parents, inquisitive and obedient son, intelligent animal. However, in fact, the life of the heroes of the book is not as simple as it may seem from the first pages. The seal is hunted by poachers, and Buster himself from time to time provokes conflicts: being a great lover of steamed milk, he visits the neighbor's cows early in the morning, has a hearty breakfast and leaves them with an empty udder. .In the end, Clint is forced to part with Buster, but this quite expected and sad ending is softened by the warm tone of the author and the optimistic future of the seal and the boy: Clint plunges headlong into science, and Buster is more than successful in the artistic field. .The book is recommended for children of primary and secondary school age, as well as, regardless of age, all lovers of animals and just good literature.
