We have been friends with the fables of I. A. Krylov since childhood. As schoolchildren, we memorized the fables about the monkey and the glasses, the dragonfly and the ant, and in adult life we quote with pleasure: “The cuckoo praises the rooster…”

“You read these works and never cease to admire their wisdom, wit, some special folk style,” said the animal artist Evgeny Rachev. “With great interest, I reread the texts, get acquainted with special literary studies and commentaries, with the memoirs of the writer’s contemporaries, who perfectly understood who this or that fable was aimed at.”

This time, the artist dressed the animals in costumes from Krylov’s time.
