Mikhail Mikhailovich Zoshchenko (1894-1958) was a satirical writer who showed the underside of the new Soviet man, the common man of the 1920s and 1930s. The range of laughter shades in the writer's prose - from play, good-naturedness to bitter regret. Behind the verbal humor is often hidden the tragic essence of the depicted reality.
The drawings for this collection of stories and feuilletons by M. M. Zoshchenko were specially created by Alexander Yakovlev. The St. Petersburg artist is known as a master of satirical illustration and children's books. His works have won multiple prizes at international festivals in Croatia, Holland and Italy.
